Family Planning Victoria
The project
Family Planning’s website makes a seamless server transition, complete with an all-round site upgrade.
The puzzle
Family Planning Victoria is an independent nonprofit organisation focused on advocacy in the health sector. They’ve been in operation for over 50 years, with a focus on reproductive health and educating their local community. Family Planning needed help with two tasks: enhancing their user experience, and moving their website from a third-party hosting platform, which was in the process of stopping its web hosting services. They were looking to move between servers without any downtime or risk losing sales, since their traffic is generally high.
The solution
Before moving the Family Planning website to the new server, SBM’s development team worked closely with the previous provider and the client’s internal digital team to make sure all the goals were understood, and that the new site would stay consistent. Deep analysis using a range of code testing frameworks would allow the task to be executed with zero downtime for the client. A suite of new site features were developed: a tool to manage podcast listings, multiple content management tools, a download tracking system and a custom email editor.
The results
The development team’s careful, consultative approach to the project made the website migration smooth, easy and free from downtime. This made sure that Family Planning suffered no loss of revenue or sales, with zero disruptions for their visitors. The site’s performance was also vastly improved, allowing much more flexibility and a greatly increased number of site visitors. Finally, the new tools added to the site’s backend greatly improved the efficiency of ongoing site maintenance for the Family Planning’s internal team.
