SBM’s development team delivers a powerful, scaleable live-streaming tool.
The puzzle
5Stream is an up-and-coming Australian startup dedicated to video and live streaming, making a significant impact on the industry since their introduction with their revolutionary platform: Cloudmix. Their initial request was for SBM to develop a tool that could cut an existing live stream and save it for later use. The SBM development team was able to greatly expand this idea to creating live cuts and delivering them instantaneously. This would decrease wait times and allow live cuts to be easily played on the current live stream.
The solution
This expansive project needed almost daily communication and feedback between SBM and 5Stream to ensure the deliverables were exactly right. Weekly load testing was run to analyse flaws and create extra benefits that weren’t available to 5Stream’s competitors. SBM delivered a highlights creator, a custom scalable computing service, a standalone monitoring app and many other integrated services. The development team also applied their advanced computing knowledge to ensure that the tool could scale in an instant, with no need for any manual input.
The results
The final products created by the SBM development team made sure that 5Stream offered an absolutely peerless service to its users, one that wasn’t available on other platforms without a load of expensive hardware. This point of difference allowed 5Stream to acquire larger clients and expand rapidly, taking the video streaming industry by storm. The tools have been used in major projects such as the ABC New Years Fireworks display, which was live streamed to an audience of millions.
