The Hideout
The project
SBM’s brand creation gives the Hideout cafe an identity that sets it apart from the rest.
The puzzle
The Hideout is a small, inviting cafe located in the bustling heart of Beaumaris, well loved by the local community for its warm atmosphere and sumptuous selection of cakes and coffee. They were in need of a brand identity that would make them stand out from all the other cafes in the area, and it was essential that the brand capture what made the Hideout special: inviting, relaxing and perfect for integrating into the local community’s daily coffee routine. The SBM design team was tasked with creating a new logo, basic branding guide, menu, outdoor and indoor signage, packaging and a landing page to represent ‘the Hideout experience’.
The solution
The collaboration between SBM and the team at the Hideout would be essential to the success of the Hideout’s new brand. After a number of visits to the cafe (along with liberal sampling of the coffee, for *research*), it was decided the new brand would tell the story of the cafe as a place that customers could spend time and ‘hide out’. SBM created a logo that played on the idea of the name itself, partly hidden from view. This theme was applied across the board, keeping all elements consistent.
The Results
The finished product perfectly meshed with the style and mood of the Hideout cafe: a distinct, slightly mysterious and playful brand that caught the attention of their target audience, inviting people to relax and ‘hide out’ for a while.
The combination of branding elements created by SBM worked together to connect cafe with community, increasing the brand recognition with fun and memorable visual cues. Social media, particularly Instagram, played an important role in supporting the brand values and showcasing the cafe’s unique atmosphere.
