The project
Instructional video fosters Deflecta customer relationships and makes application process a breeze.
The puzzle
Deflecta Crete Seals is a successful family-owned Australian company that supplies specialist concrete protection products. Their quality work can be seen in the health, construction, agriculture and food manufacturing sectors. A number of customers were experiencing difficulty applying their Topel product, and Deflecta required a handy tool that would demonstrate how it can be applied. They approached SBM to create a video that would clearly explain, through both audio and visual, the process of applying the product.
The solution
As the process of applying Topel can be difficult to understand with just visuals, it was critical that the application process was shot in a way that showcased the difference between wet and dry surfaces. The video used motion graphics, timelapses and macro-level filming to capture the application from many different angles. Working closely with Deflecta, SBM broke the process into bite-sized, easily digestible steps. The final video was punchy, but also visually descriptive, using a combination of slick visuals and informative graphics to communicate a clear message.
The results
The variety of effective shots, simplicity of the voice over and highly informative on-screen text has enabled Deflecta to reuse SBM’s footage for all kinds of extra video projects. The versatile script has been translated into multiple languages to describe the application process across several different countries. The longevity of the video ensures that Deflecta has a useful, long-term instructional tool for their Topel product, giving them higher authority in the minds of their customers and cementing customer relationships.
