Gruen Pitch
The project
SBM was invited to submit to Gruen’s pitch segment, with the task of creating a one-minute jingle to thank the country’s essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gruen (previously known as The Gruen Transfer) is a long-running TV show focused on the many facets of advertising and marketing. Setting new viewer records from its first episode, Gruen has aired on ABC since 2008, featuring an array of expert guests and in-depth analysis of what makes advertising tick in Australia and beyond.
The puzzle
With Gruen providing a one-month timeframe, the SBM team came together in some intense brainstorming sessions. All the team’s ideas were then brought together and melded into a powerful core concept: smart visual parallels for the current crisis and highly relatable narrative of a father singing to his daughter.
SBM used almost entirely in-house skills- animation, illustration, songwriting, musical composition, motion graphics and the production of the video itself- drawing from our massive pool of talent to create a jingle with depth and meaning.
The result
The SBM team rose to the challenge and then some, delivering a finished pitch within the tight timeframe by way of strong teamwork and collaboration. The stellar illustrations and animation were designed to be tastefully minimalistic, allowing the viewer to engage with the narrative, lyrics and deeper message.
The end result was a heartwarming expression of gratitude to the hardworking essential workers across Australia, alongside a catchy tune that reaffirmed SBM’s skills in composing and producing our own custom music.
