COVID-19 has had a powerful impact on online shopping, says new study
According to a study conducted by Ayden, surveying 25,000 consumers worldwide and 2000 Australians, the 2020 pandemic has led to an increase of 27% when it comes to Aussies shopping online, with an extra 33% saying that they’ll be boosting their online shopping habits in the future.
67% of Australian consumers have also stated that they’re more willing to shop locally and support their local community, even if it’s via eCommerce rather than visiting a physical store.
This correlates with a significant number of previously brick-and-mortar stores jumping into the eCommerce game, ensuring that they could remain digitally agile and deliver their products and services even during lockdowns and restrictions.
In addition, it was found that when making online purchases, consumers have a higher engagement and focus. According to the findings in Ayden’s study, enjoyment has proven to be a large factor in online shopping, which correlates with SBM’s findings: a positive user experience is extremely important when it comes to eCommerce.
